Mark Sperring

Having worked for many years selling books before turning his hand to writing them, Mark is now firmly established on the children's book scene with an ever-growing portfolio of picture books.

From quirky to lyrical, Mark has a real talent for capturing the familiar moments in children's everyday lives with warmth and humour.

The creator of several best-selling series, his books have been translated into over 14  languages and shortlisted for a range of prizes. In an exciting new move, his delightfully naughty picture book, The Naughty Naughty Baddies, has been optioned by Dreamworks as the basis for a new animated series.

Recent titles include Mince Spies (Bloomsbury), We Are All Works of Art (Pavilion), The Astro Naughty Naughty Baddies (Bloomsbury), All the Things I Wish For You (Papier) and Princess Scallywag and the No Good Pirates (HarperCollins).

Mark is influenced by all things wonderful and one day hopes to borrow Max's boat and go and live with the wild things... until then he resides in Bristol.

'Sperring's super-silly story brimming over with word-play is a fabulous treat for all who encounter the outrageous shenanigans of the awesomely awful foursome. Bring it on baddies!' Red Reading Hub on The Naughty Naughty Baddies.

'Children will squeal with delight at the sheer naughtiness of this!' LoveReading4Kids on The Naughty Naughty Baddies.

‘An absolute joy to share with young children. Sperring’s gentle rhyming text is perfectly paced so one can linger long over each spread…’ Red Reading Hub on Your Hand In My Hand (Also an Amazon Best Book of the Month 2018).

‘As much fun to read as it is to listen to, this going-to-sleep book hits on all of the necessary bedtime rituals…’ Kirkus Reviews on Max and the Won’t Go to Bed Show
